The Lord gives us so much! A new life and freedom. All we need for life and godliness! And there is so much awaiting us in the time of the fullness of salvation. Yet, we are also called make every effort to supplement our faith with character. In this sermon, we will investigate two important benefits of perseverance. Pastor Bill speaks from 2 Peter 3:1-11.
First, perseverance is the pathway to fruitfulness – it is the only way to complete all we’ve been given to do.
Second, perseverance clears our vision so that we can see beyond our own flesh and this world and see clearly into eternal things. Perseverance and gives us the eyes to see that escaping trials and difficulties is in no way worth more to us than persevering and enduring unto the crown of life that awaits the faithful.
This is the ninth (and final) message in our current series of sermons – PATHWAYS TO THE KING – which is tracking with Rob Reimer’s book by that same name. We are working through this book in our small groups to start the year off. This sermon takes the same theme as chapter eight of the book – “Persist.”
